  • Snipers are apparently drop outs from sniper school at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

At least that's what some specialists say over at CNN.

Eric Haney, who trained as a sniper at Fort Bragg and was a founding member of the Army's ultrasecret Delta Force, believes the shootings are the work of a pair of young men, working in tandem as military snipers are trained to do -- one as the lookout, the other the shooter. But he thinks the closest they got to a real elite sharpshooter was at a Special Operations convention.
They're clever, he said, but not pros. The longest shot to date was 100 yards, and most of the victims were standing still or walking in a straight line toward or away from the shooter.

"It's the kind of thing that if you've never shot a rifle before in your life, you and I could spend 90 minutes together and you can do this," said Haney, a 20-year combat veteran.

It would make sense that there would be more than one person. It could be done, with 1, but it would be much harder to accomplish.

They need to get these people.

True, but by saying it, I am that much closer to 100 posts...

          ZokesPro;

How does the title of your post relate to the content?

The guy giving the interview graduated from the academy, not the shooter(s)....esp. since they haven't been caught. He also clearly states that the shooter(s) most likely only got second hand training at best.

Note I'm not using the term "sniper". Those who earned the title and who do a tough job for our safety don't deserve to be connected to these morons.

i wonder what goes up in this crazy guys mind. if they get him we will never find out though i guess, the first policeman that sees him will probably give him a nice shot in the chest claiming he was aiming at him or sth. like that. cant really blame him though. don't think anyone else will ask further questions either.

Is this about the word "sniper" I used in my title? If it is then I don't understand your question.

                  You totally missed the point.

"Snipers are apparently drop outs from sniper school at Fort Bragg, North Carolina"

The only one in that article from that academy was the guy being interviewed and he was just speculating about the shooter being trained by a sniper school.

Anyone who as listened to the later reports can tell you that the concensus of experts is that it wouldn't take training at a sniper school to do the shots he's taking. Most hunters could pull them off. I totally agree.

It's the escapes that are unusual and sniper like, but those techniques are easy enough to come by if you want them. They are also things that were taught at Al Qaeda's camps in Afghanistan. I won't give examples of these techniques for obvious reasons.

There was another interesting report involving a former sniper where he was shot by his girlfriend. They found an AR-15, ammo and some other circumstantial evidence in his home that sounded suspicious re: the current shootings. The problem was that he was being interviewed by the FBI during the last shooting and his gun was obviously not the one involved since it was also in custody.

I guess I did, my bad.

I was just making sure, cause I really wasn't sure if I understood your question properly. But yeah it makes sense. I have no "sniper" training myself yet I'm a damn good shot! I know a few techniques myself.

                    You make a good point.
