  • HD Buzzing, Dell Inspiron 7000

Well it's a good thing I'm about to build a new comp cause this laptop is fizzing out on me. My HD is making a terrible buzzing noise and I'm afraid it's about to die. I've already checked it and it isn't dirty or anything. I've been searching to get a replacement, but the cheapest I can find for my laptop is for $150. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place where they would sell a replacement HD for a laptop for a cheaper price. I need one that is 10GB or SMALLER (gotta have something to do my school work on).

Look at http://www.transintl.com/store/categ...m?Category=351 they have a 20Gig IBM 40GNX (5400rpm) drive at 115$. this drive is the best you can get for a laptop. And yes it is a 9.5mm so it will fit in any laptop.
    Or you have a 20gig 40GN (4200 rpm) at only 99$ but I suggest the 40GNX, I think you won't regret it.
If you are worried that you're BIOS won't take more than 10gig, just d/l IBM install utility on their web site, it will bypass the bios limitation. I've put a 20Gig on my Inspiron 3200 (PII 233) and it works like a dream...
    System : ASUS A8N SLI premium, Athlon 64X2 3800+, 2Gb, T7K500 320Gb SATAII, T7K250 250Gb SATAII, T7K250 250Gb ATA133, Nec ND-3520, Plextor PX130A, SB Audigy 2, Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO, 24" Dell 2407WFP.

Well, I left it on all last night and when I woke up it stopped buzzing. Even after the HD started spinning again it's not buzzing. Odd, but I think I'm gonna go ahead and get a replacement. Your link seems to be about the best thing I can find Augustin. Thanks for the help.
