  • New Motherboard question with WinXP

I'm getting an MSI 745 Ultra to replace my Asus A7S333 that died in a botched BIOS update and I was wondering if I would have any major problems in swapping out the boards..the thing that has me sorta worried is the RAID array I have, but I figure the worst thing that could happen is that XP would want to reactiveate itself since it will think its in a new computer. Any comments or suggestions?
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

I think the only thing that should keep 2k/XP from booting after any hardware switch... would be the HDD controller (different controller = "inaccessable boot device" BSOD) you're booting XP from...

and the HAL... wrong HAL and you get an ACPI not compatible BSOD at boot.

i guess that RAID controller you got there is a PCI card...
and since the new mobo got the same chipset i guess they're using the same HAL...
i switched a couple of times between i815 boards, abit >> asus etc.. no problems.. but i did have to reactivate...

even i815 to i845 switch worked, but not i845 to i845E.. guess that's because the i815 and i845 uses the same southbridge, and the i845E does not...

so my guess would be the worst thing that could happen is an XP reactivation...
