  • Governemnt Sillyness!

I was just filling in a form online on the government website for the childrens tax credit-

    I got this error message:

    Child 2
Your child's date of birth can only be dated 3 months in the future (and cannot be more than 120 years in the past) . Please re-enter the correct date.
    Date of Birth DD/MM/YYYY

The rolleyes say it all (inserted by moi)

You mean you can claim benefit for children you haven't had yet.

Ahh, I _wish_ we could claim up and coming kids on our taxes. I would have gotten a kickass break on a bad tax year.

In the US, the kid has to be BORN before you can claim 'em.

I dont think you can claim for unborn Kids.... The tax break only comes into affect in April, so the forms need to be in before that.

It probably takes 3 months to process the form

I wonder about the 120 year old child though!

In the ready reckoner its about 1% deduction (to my TAX BILL) on my income - with 2 kids under 3 years old

Child care alone costs me £700 a month! (?1100 USD?) - thats NOT tax deductable....

                    It's true, kids cost

We pay our childminder £650 a month. OK that includes food and nappies (diapers). Then there's the 4 hours a day after school care for the other one at around £200 a month including a light meal. It soon adds up, now you know why I still have a Marvel G200, not a Parhelia :-)

...wait 'til they get to college age...

But what I'm wondering is how old are the parents of a 120 year old child who are still filing tax returns? ...and the child isn't?
How can you possibly take anything seriously?
                      Who cares?

The girl comes into our house from 8:00 - 4:30, 4 days a week. Her pay is just a bit over minimum wage....

It was less than £100 cheaper for a creche.

                        I pay for the nappies....

In China they used to take junior out to the paddies and put him in a burlap bag with sand in the bottom to weight him down/have something for human waste to filter through, tie the top of the bag around his neck so he couldn't get out or go anywhere, and set him at the edge of the field. Then mom goes out in the field and works all day.
