Have you tried chkdsk /r from the recovery console?

Does XP SP1 also include the new "I agree to sell my soul to M$ and grant them the right to do anything they want on any of my computers whenever they want"-EULA?

Yup. Just updated my XP Pro Corp. product key to a valid one and installed SP1 without any problems.

                        ...did it. Thanks!
The first restart was a flashy BSOD, the second was all good and normal as if nothing happened. Peculiar...
How can you possibly take anything seriously?
                        Who cares?

Actually, if y'all are wanting to slipstream your VLK'ed Corporate edition of Windows (although anyone with a legal corp key probably already knows how to do this and/or will wait for the corporate SP1 *wink*wink*) should probably read this:

KB5003214 update for Windows 10 brings forth the News and Interests feature to the operating systeme's taskbar and applies crucial fixes.
The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

I'm the least you could do
If only life were as easy as you
I'm the least you could do, oh yeah
If only life were as easy as you
                          I would still get screwed

Did it not ask for an activation key afterwards??

My SP1 install didn't ask either, though my XP is legal.

SP1 probably has a new feature that sniffs out nice guys and lets them go.
