  • G400 MAX fan

I put my old G400 MAX into my server PC (the Millennium I was starting to fail). The fan on it has been making quite a bit of noise. It's probably the noisiest fan in there. Since I don't need to use the 3D capabilities of the card, would it be possible to just remove the fan altogether and not have the G400 overheat?

No... the card will become much to hot, the Heatskin ist far to small.
    System:
    P III-S 1.4@1.52
    512 MB SDR-Ram
    Gigabyte-6IEML

Isn't your G400 still in warranty LS?

The warranty is three years, right? I received my G400 at the end of August, 1999. So I guess it just expired

My G400 has run without a heatsink for several months without problems, if you clock back your Max a bit you should be fine without the fan, as long as you don't push it.

Just superglue a fan to it.
            Cost < $5
            Time < 5 min.

PS an old 486 fan works great.
