  • Re-appearing via crap

Interestingly on a system that I've uninstalled the via drivers the following re-appears under hidden devices. If you uninstall them
    they come back next reboot.

viaxxx.sys This one is their answer for the pci latancy problems.
    viaagp.sys
    viaagpfilter.sys

Now why do they come back.

Are you by any chance running winXP?
If so, check in the \system32\dllcache folder for these files and delete them. Otherwise they´re sure to keep popping up.

    It´s not a bug, it´s a feature

No it's win2k and I've just deleted the files and they didn't come back. However they should have been deleted when I removed the via stuff. I also noticed one registry entry relating to Via that I missed before and I've deleted that as well. It was AGP related.
Strangly the Via latancy patch wasn't doing anything on the old board so I presumed it had become uninstalled.
Now that leaves one problem left.
