  • Graphic card recommendation

I'm looking for a video card to replace my old G400.

I need something that costs <~ $ 200, has good 2D, nice 3D and good video-in quality for watching TV, playing with my Dreamcast etc. (No tuner needed)

I've seen there are quite a few GF Ti cards with VIVO but for some reason I wasn't able to find ANY site that reviews the video-in quality.

Didn't some Gigabyte 8500 board have vidoe in???

Otherwise an All in Wonder 8500, would fit your needs.

I have become an ATI fanatic!!!

Well at least in Nvidia's case, 90 if not 100% of the VIVO solutions are powered by the Philips chip, so whichever card you buy, that's what you will get. You could get a Ti4200 (Leadtek, Gainward or Asus would be my recomendations) and have no problems overclocking it to Ti4600 speed....however from what I've seen the VIVO quality of Nvidia graphics cards sux....the only other solution would be a Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO-a pretty good card actually, IF you can find it. Also, you could just get a nice capture card and a Gf3 Ti200 or smthn.

Novdid, a 8500DV costs waay more than 200$....maybe an All-in-Wonder 7500 would be a better bet, it can be found in this price range.

Not if he was living in the US.

In that case an All in Wonder 7500...

I'd get a cheap TV card for video in, and your 3D card of choice. A Ti4200 would be the best value for money, but I don't know about 2D quality.

I already have a (shitty) cheap PCI TV card (Pinnacle PCTV). The idea was to actually get rid of this piece of utter crap.

It stinks, (at least on Win2k) the picture quality is bad and the TV tuner is shitty at best.

Try the new Terratec Cinergy TV cards. They use a Philips TV tuner which is said to be pretty good.

Maybe landrover has bought one, as he stated he wanted to in this thread.

I don't know how it is in Israel, but in germany, you can buy a product over the net, and send it back within two weeks, even if you have used it, without giving a reason, and you get your money back. It'd be worth a try, IMHO.

Oh, and I think your card uses a bt 8x8 tuner? If so, try dScaler as TV application. There is also an independant driver for cards with this tuner.

How many of you are hoping for a Parhelia MX?
                          I mean, I want a Matrox card. I don't need 128MB. I don't need dvi ouput. I don't have 400€.

                          Please, Matrox...
