I'll try it out on the Marvel and let you know A.S.A.P. Sounds like really terrific news.

Will it work with the Rainbow Runner Studio?

          Nicram, thanks for the information.

I read the instructions in the text files after I downloaded and unzipped the driver. It appears that this driver was written for the G-series Rainbow Runner. However, the name/number of the driver is very similar to the Matrox Win9x driver for the older Rainbow Runner Studio (which is used with the Mystique 220 and Millennium II video cards). Do you know whether this driver will work with the Rainbow Runner Studio? If so, what display driver should then be used with the Mystique 220 and/or Millennium II video cards? (Matrox lists version 4.31 to be used with the Rainbow Runner Studio running Win9x and 3.40 with WinNT4.)

If I could capture MJPEG with my old Rainbow Runner Studio while running Win2k I'd be one happy bunny!

On a related note, I recently installed Windows XP on my mother's computer (it has my old Marvel G400 in it). The first time I installed it, I got the video tools working just fine (leaked ones on MURC) but I had to re-install it again because of a few reasons (one of which was to enable APIC so it'd shut down right) but the second time I installed it, it wouldn't install the video tools, the set-up would just die to the desktop without an error. I'm guessing it's because the first time I installed WinXP on her computer, I hadn't installed all the other drivers that WinXp doesn't come with first, I installed the Matrox drivers and VT first, then everything else. So who knows if I install a third time I can get these to work. That's why I was so curious if these new drivers you put up will install and work properly.

When Felipe create this patch we try it with RR. We see that the drivers work fine, so we give them for You. The drivers are similar woth this from Marvel cards, so they should work fine with Marvels 200/400 cards. Just try

                  Rats...

I tried, but I'm afraid there's no way this patched driver is going to work with the Rainbow Runner Studio. The RRS uses a completely different set of drivers than the G-series Rainbow Runner.

How about asking Felipe to come up with something for the Rainbow Runner Studio?

At this moment, we don't have even one model of RRS, so we just don't know how it work But... we will see what we can do

Nicram, you did a great job! It works and it's stable on my Marvel G400. I captured 50 minutes full size PAL in Mjpeg with PC-VCR. The file was split in two (which should not be necessary on my NTFS drive) and on a first short playback attempt with AVI_IO it wasn't entirely lipsync. However, the strangest thing is that DVDMax is no longer triggered by PC-VCR, and it works now with AVI_IO! Maybe the trick lies somewhere in the registry.
When trying to playback the Mjpeg file with Mediaplayer, no DVDMax either. Odd conclusion: the system plays back every kind of video with DVDMax, except the proprietary hardware codec based. Looking forward to your reaction...

Nicram, that would be great. A lot of people have their old RRS sitting on a shelf because it won't capture MJPEG with any OS other than Win9x. Kind of a shame because one of the big advantages of the RRS over the RRG is that the RRS is not affected at all by Macrovision. If you and Felipe could resurrect this fine old piece of hardware to work with Win2k/XP, you'd have many, many new friends all over the world!
