  • Ati Radeon 9700 vs Matrox Parhelia

Here is a comparison its basically a Athlon XP 1600+ same as my machine against a Ati Radeon 9700

look at the multitexturing and the 8 lights poly count interesting...

are you sure thats a radeon9700?
I mean, it doesn´t look that fast.

I didn´t know benchmarks was released for that card.

BTW parhelias multitexture fillrate is faster than the radeon9700(in theory), the 8-light polycount on the radeon9700 is lower than i expected though.

    could be cpu limited.

If that was a R9700, then it was with some kind of AA and anisotropic enabled for sure.
Hell, I'm getting this kind of scores with my oc'ed Radeon8500LE:

(Exactly 10.000 points, not one single more or less. Try to copy that...)

I dunno - 89fps for Nature is way faster than any comercially available card atm...

well the single-texturing score, is very high compared to its multi-texturing, which fits the specs: 8 pipes and 1 tmu per pipe.

but again high polycount/8 lights is a bit low.

it could be with aniso and fsaa, or it could be a fake, or perhaps the drivers is holding it back.

and 89 fps(or atleast very close) in nature IS possible with an overclocked gf4ti. http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=3990219

perhaps this is better for comparing:

it is on an overclocked system, but it is in the official madonion hall of fame, so i don´t think its a fake, and it is with default settings.

it has many simillarities whith the bench unicron posted, so i quess the radeon9700 is just cpu limited.

parhelias high polycount w/8 lights is still better though.

shouldn't the 9700's single texture and multi texture values be the same ?
Hey! You're talking to me all wrong! It's the wrong tone! Do it again...and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron

                in theory, yes.

I think they have made some optimizations for multitexturing, though.

Here is a 3DMark2001se score from a Radeon 9700 Pro with all info intact. I must admit this is going to be quite an impressive video card indeed for us PC gamers.

OK, now those numbers seem more appropriate. Still the system was a highly oc'ed P4, so the numbers on real hardware will be lower.
