  • Parhelia and ALi Magik 1 chipset

    Anyone else using this combination?

I have an ECS K7AMA mobo and am having a few problems getting the Parhelia to work (desktop is fine, but as soon as fullscreen graphics (3D) are called for, or I try to play a DVD, the machine locks up needing a hard reboot.

As the chipset is the only real oddity with my system (running Win2k btw), I just thought I'd ask.

    Cheers

Have you tried the new AGP driver for that chipset?

    ftp://www.ali.com.tw/driver/agp_1.90.txt

    Multi-Language:

    AGP Utility

      Thanks Ryu.

It looks like I am using 1.73 - according to ECS this is the latest (!)

I will try this v1.90 tonight.

Sorted. Updated the driver, but still had no luck. Then, with the help of Matrox tech support (Richie), identified quickly that the problem was with a BIOS setting, and it all works now! Woohoo! The tech support guys there are a real good reason to go with Matrox products.

I should have noticed that the P wasn't listed as having an IRQ....

        Thanks all the same Ryu
