  • SC 3000 and Win XP

    Has anybody here managed to run SimCity 3000 (the original version, not Unlimited) under Win XP?
    I tried it, but when I want to start the game, it loads from the CD but nothing happens
    Specs:
    MSI 745 Ultra :: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ :: 1024 MB PC-266 DDR-RAM :: HIS Radeon 9700 (Catalyst 3.1) :: Creative Soundblaster Live! 1024 :: Pioneer DVD-106S :: Western Digital WD800BB :: IBM IC35L040AVVN07

      found this:

      SimCity 3000 1.0.557
      It does not work.
      Maxis replied it did not guarantee success with "future OSs".
      Problem is most likely with the CD-protection system.
      All 3-party "patches" did not work.

        That's just great, one of the reasons why I "love" EA so much

        Just because of this damn copyprotection I can't play the game, I heard that SC 3000 Unlimted works fine, but I don't want to spend another 30-40€ for a game which I basicly already own.

        Typically EA, they are causing more trouble with their copy-protection than many other companies, but they don't care, with their 100 The Sims expensions they are making enough money.

        Oh well, it seems like I have to wait for SimCity 4000 now
