The big question is, will ATI's crack driver team (read: driver team on crack) enable all of R300's slick features before NVIDIA releases NV40?

Well if they don't I'm sure Omega and Cyborg will have a good go.

            I'm guessing you meant NV30?

Maybe ATI is using its driver team to come out with the press release. If that's the case, maybe we'll see one with lots of typos sometime next month.

                    :P

                      Anyway, here's something:
a nice adv. for the R9700
Notice that there are - THREE HEADS - on the packaging???

The RV250 looks VERY disappointing to me, according to the "leaked" benches. Just a bit faster than a 7500, nowhere near a 8500LE.

The R300 however, if you believe the leaked specs, looks very promising.
I'm just curious how they want to manage the 107 million transistors, .15u micron AND 315 MHz all at once, esp. I'd like to see their cooling.....

P.S.: frankymail, it wouldn't be the first thing ATI "stole" from Matrox (Theater Mode a.k.a. DVDMax, anyone)

On the Rage3d forums they said that the price seems to be around 350 US-$ for the R9700, the question is if this would be with or without taxes, if it's without taxis, then this card will be about as expensive as the P.
Still wondering about these 3 heads though

The Radeon 9700 was announced alright, except it was a press conference and everything is under NDA . . . until tomorrow

Now, let's just see which has better TripleHead support, great AA and stuff??? (Well, probably both, but that won't get the Parhelia out of my main system; however, there may be a Radeon 9700 in my Lan box soon though...)

The Inquirer has a new article about the R300, just click here.

The heatsink looks pretty massive, not as large as the HS of the beta Parhelias, but still large, reminds on me on the coolers which have been used on the Voodoo3 3000, just with a fan integrated.
Also it seems like ATI didn't want to give out any clockrates, maybe the 315 MHz rumours aren't true...
Btw, notice the Doom III box under the card.... seems like ATI really wants to jump up the hype for Doom III, which we still won't see within the next 14 months
Maybe the R400 next year will be avertising for Quake 4 which will be available late 2004

Also they wrote that the card will be out at September, I hope that ATI didn't make the mistake to announce a card for that month while they won't release it before october like they did with the Radeon 8500.
