  • Minimum Search Length

    Hi Ant,

I've often wanted to search for things that are 3 characters, but am never allowed - could the minimum length for each term be changed down 1 from 4 to 3 please?

Doesn't the search for "xyz#" or "XYZ*" trick work?

Use the wildcard character, '*' ... for instance "AGP*". They wanted to keep the search index down in size and that's why they limited the minimum search argument size. Ant is already getting the screws put to him on the MURC's resource usage so I doubt things will free up anytime soon.

yeah a 3 character search size increases the size of the db expodentually.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

Yep just use a wild card, the increase in DB size is massive if I set the search index to 3 letters I'm afraid.
