  • G450 eTV MPEG2 files to .AVI's

A question I am fielding between here, a DiVX site and a Virtualdub site. I capture MPEG2 files from my G450 and wish to use virtualdub to compress them and I get this pop-up window

"MPEG Import Filter: pack synchronization error"

Been using the Marvel G400 for several years with wonderful results, this is new to me.

Anybody know the fix or correct filter I need?

    Thanx

I beleive i've run into this one before myself with vdub.

I seam to recall fixing it by clicking a check mark on the
"Popup extended open options" dialog when your opening
the mpeg which will take you to some new options..

I beleive it's the part that says exept partial mpeg streams.
If that doesn't work, you next option in to do a simple demux
    of the mpeg in TMPGEnc..

    Hope that helps

Of course... TMPGEnc is a sharewarempeg encoder

Once you have dnloaded it and installed it, you run the program
and click on File then go to MPEG Tools..

Under Simple Multiplex you select your mpeg file for both
video and audio.. Then choose an output file name and click
run.. it'll take a few minutes (more like several - depends on your
system speed) and it should output a fixed mpeg..

If this doesn't work let me know and we will try a few other options..

Ok.. btw, I just noticed that in your original post your mentioned mpeg2...( I'm blind I think)

If so, virtualdub can't read mpeg2 files natively.. To open an mpeg2 encoded file in virtualdub your will need to run a program called AVIsynth.. which has the ability to make it possible to open mpeg2's in alot of programs that can't read mpeg2 files...

Now, this is alot more complicated case.. But i would be willing to help you out with it if this is the case..

Thanks MD, found a program called FlaskMPEG that is doing the trick.

Don't use Flask... yak! A couple of years ago maybe, but now I hate it.

Try DVD2AVI (1.76), mpeg2dec and AviSynth. Depending on your encoder of choice you may also want to look at Link2 as this allows you to load AviSynth scripts into some of the newer encoders.

Hmm. hate to say it but i would have to agree with Rob100.
(no insult intended to flash users but) In my opinion flask isn't
the best solution.. I personally hate flash.. IMHO TMPGEnc is the better way to go.. It will also output to avi.. With the
dvd2avi + avisynth + vdub being the best of em all..
But hey.. if it works for your needs.. guess I can't nock it..

P.S. Glad to be of any help
