I'm trying to create a title sequence like the simpsons where the tile comes out from some smoke.
I was thinking of filming some smoke, but it sounds difficult to get the title right.

How about a still of the clouds or smoke stretched into a clip with the title text fading in over it? The Crossfade transition in MSPro can do that.
