4GB filesize limit and VirtualDub

I wonder how to capture more than 4GB video with VirtialDub 1.3d

Unless you are using the VirtualDUB file server features OR are using the NTFS filesystem for NT4 or Win2K, you can't.

On how to record avis larger than 4 gigs with virtual dub ...

I guess use the "enable spill system" and "spill system" options in the capture menu in capture-modus should work .... you then get partial avis as large as you specified and record more than 4 gigs of video. When you open the first created avi in the edit-mode of virtual dub it automatically also opens the rest and glues them together to what appears to be one long video fragment. You can then compress/cut/add etcetera. You could also try "striping", saveing audio and video data in seperate avi files .... but striping and spanning can't be used together so if audio or video becomes larger then 4 gigs you get the same problems.

Just to clarify, the problem does not lie with VirtualDub, but rather with FAT16/32's file size limitation of 4gb. VirtualDub actually can capture into files > 4GB, but FAT32 won't allow it. Anyways, Jiri Wichern's suggestion will get you around the problem. (you can also try AVI_IO which uses a simular trick to get around the 4GB limitation)
