  • DVD and Pal question...

I have a quickie, is the DVD region number the same for the US and Europe? Lasty DVD's are not Pal or Ntsc, correct?

The reason I ask is my girlfriend found some DVD's in Europe (hard to find here) and I can't remember if we can use them.

    Thanks all,

    Jeff

As far as I can remember, there are indeed six regions, but the ones your after are the US (Region 1) and Europe (Region 2). Neither discs can play on other region players unless they've been *ahem* corrected for such playback.

So the answer to whether you can play them is, no. Unless the discs are not regionally encoded or your player has been sent for "correction" on this problem.

As for NTSC and PAL, I think that's in the discs too. I'm not 100% sure on that one though (but pretty sure), but I think the player might sort this out automatically, so no problems I think.
