  • Is G450 and Intel 845 Chipset ok?

    Just got a Gigabyte 8IDX motherboard with an Intel 845 (SDRAM) chipset and reading the manual there's a great big warning about the 845 chipset only supporting 4xAGP(1.5v) - anything else may result in burning out the m/b!

    Basically, can someone confirm if the G450 32Mb Millenium (Dualhead) is a 4xAGP (1.5v) card - I know it can support 4xAGP, I'm just not sure about the 1.5v part - can't seem to find anything in the tech details on Matrox's web site.

    If the Matrox card is no good, does anyone know if my spare (dare I say it?) nVidia Geforce 2 GTS is a 1.5v card? I would much prefer the G450 for the image quality!

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tim.

    It will work. G450 (and G400 and G550) can autoswitch to the correct voltage needed.

      Thanks for the info - putting a new machine together is worrying enough without problems like this.

        Easy way to check if you video card is 1.5V compliant: if teh AGP connector itself (the part with the small gold plates; do not include anyother part before or after the connector) is separated in 3 parts, you're sure it's 1.5V compliant.
        What was necessary was done yesterday;
