  • NtApm error messages in event viewer

The following appears on one of my win2k machines. It appears in event viewer about an hour after the machine has started. Note there is no power saving on the machine. Acpi is disabled in the bios due to having an old sblive in the machine.

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: NtApm
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1
    Date: 21/05/2002
    Time: 19:07:53
    User: N/A
    Computer: JON
    Description:
The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( NtApm ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.

The following information is part of the event: , 60.
    Data:
    0000: 00 00 00 00 02 00 4c 00 ......L.
    0008: 00 00 00 00 01 00 06 c0 .......À
    0010: 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 c0 .......À
    0018: fa 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ú.......
    0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

I reckon this maybe due to my hard disk failing and it corrupting the files before finally giving up the ghost and the ghost backup copying the corruption over.
I checked on Microshafts web site but found nothing of use. No doubt I'm asking the wrong question. Any ideas anyone?

Talking of errors that don't appear on Microshafts knowledge base this is one of them. Looks like I've got you stumped as well.

It's probably the Advanced Power Manager files that are FUD!

I thought about enabling acpi in the bios which win2k should detect and let it chug the files across. Disabling it and then setting the computer back to standard and hope windoze copies the files across.
