  • Wombat : Graphics parrallelizm

    David Kirk, NVIDIA Chief Scientist:

"The biggest opportunity we have is that graphics is an infinitely parallelizable problem, much more so that PCs."

"The reason that CPUs are unable to keep pace is that everything in the sequential architecture of the CPU has to go through one pipe. With graphics, where we can have more a more scalable architecture, the curve is much steeper; we can double performance every six months."

But what he really was saying... "with our deeply subversive spies, we're able to thieve the technology that others have diligently struggled to design and rip it out from under their feet. Additionally we bait competitors engineers with lavish amounts of (insider info) stocks so they'll come to work for us, regardless of previous commitments and or NDA's. This is the real basis of our success in the industry and how we are able to hype what we do to our investors (so they dump hoards of money for our continueing efforts) and poop out *cough* double *cough* speed every 6 months."

Have the speeds between the GeForce 2 and GeForce 4 even doubled?

well, the speed difference between the g200 and the g400max was huge, i would say the the only upgrades in graphic-cards(within the same brand) i have made, that yielded a near 100% speed increase, was voodoo1 -> voodoo2 and matrox g200 -> g400max.
i wonder if kyro2 -> parhelia will be simillar.
haven´t tried any geforces or atis though.

Ahh.. So that's what he means by infinitely parallelizable-
they work in parallel- spies in the competition's companies stealing secrets while others work to recruit to the dark side employees currently working for the competition. The infinite part must be referring to the fact that if they aren't getting secrets and employees fast enough, they send in more spies and recruiters?
