Clean install of Win98SE on my wifes system (She wasn't home and I got sick and tired of her complaining...)

Boy she was pissed when I said I wiped the drive (I didn't its actually in my machine in the other room so I can leech absolutely necessary crap off it through the network.)

I just want to say, wow she's gonna notice a huge difference (just got rid of two years worth of women garbage and crap net installed junk)

    Like a whole new machine.

I threw the other drive back in so she could play her Myst Exile game today. I took the other one out so she won't mess it up until its finished.

          The difference is definately huge...

Going from (winME which was installed as an upgrade on win88se which was installed over top of win98se which was installed overtop of win98se) kinda clutters things up a bit over time (Had to do ME the last time because 98se stopped fixing itself ) To a single install of 98se (which is backed up with drivers installed on an emergency recovery CD now that I can actually fit it all onto one cd.) Next time its just pop in the cd and go.

If she doesn't take the time to save her important stuff to her network drive, well that will be just too bad.

Before (34GB - maybe 10 if it actually stuff that she uses)
After (7 Gigs - all programs she needs as well as her games)

I upgraded my wifes Win98SE system to Win2K SP2 because it was, which is normal for Win9x, unstable after about a year of operation.

            The result:

A fast, stable system that my wife hated because the icons didn't look the same

Coming up on a quarter century invested in this one so I guess some silliness desktop icons doesn't matter that much....
