  • Parhelia being shown?

Hi folks, new member here. Been using Matrox cards since 1994, patiently waiting on the new card.
Thought I'd register to post a little titbit I saw on Anandtech

Check out the last line - "With DirectX 9 on the horizon the major hardware firms are diligently at work on their next-generation GPUs, from R300 to NV30 to something else being shown now behind closed doors - as usual, the graphics market always keeps us busy. Stay tuned."

    Got me all excited.

    it could be..

i have a hunch, that the next couple of days will be exciting for us, murcers.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

      eYup.

Typically the paper press guys get info first because of their long lead time to publication (4-8 weeks), so leaks will likely come from those briefings. Expect a flood of them

it'll be interesting to see what happens if a capable third manufacturer returns to the scene.
Anand also said that ^^^. If that isnt a hint, I don't know what is.

              Damn, just read that.

              Sounds good doesnt it.

Anyway, what is there to show?

We have Matrox, 3dLabs, PowerVR, S3(SonicBlue), or Trident.

When Anand says capable , that rules out S3 and (possibly) Trident(todays press release is interesting though).

We know 3dLabs has something hot comming, but is it taped out yet?

We know PowerVR has something, but can they get it to market?

We also know Matrox has something, and that it is running (DM demo).

              The best bet is Matrox.

I would say another week or two before we know for sure.

              Ali.

i think S3 can be ruled out. trident did announce a new chip today, however it is only for laptops. so that rules out trident. maybe SIS? capable? so here goes our third hero.
IT MUST BE MATROX! or better

                  IT IS MATROX

Well I guess everyone here reads the Matrox forum, but for those who don't, here's a nice quote from Haig:

gs2k1: I heard you presented the card to the press (?), but that they are all under NDA until somewhere in may?
I also heard that they where very impressed!
if this is true, did they where very impressed?

Haig: Can't comment but if it's anything like the past, you folks should start seeing more leaks coming out from various sites.

How much more evidence do the doubters need

hmm so now the question is who will leak sth. first? or who will have the first article with benchmarks etc.?

i think it might be anandtech. i remember they had the first 8500 article, i think even a day earlier than tom. so tomshardware is another good guess. however it will probably be Ant he better starts saving some money than or he won't be able to pay the bandwith when everyone on the planet links to him.

wasn´t it ANT who wrote the first g400max review here on murc a long time ago (i can´t find it btw).

I guess you'll have to wait for the first:

"guess what the UPS man just dropped off...."

                              threads...
