I asked a quation to Haig, and got this answer:

< Will the topmodel me called "MAX" or will Matrox introduce a new name for the topmodel?

< No name has been finalized yet but I don't think MAX will be part of it.

that's really a shame :(
Max sounds so cool :)
a least alot better than Ti wich nVidia uses ;)

But then again if they keep the Parhelia name, IMO Parhelia Pro sounds better than Parhelia Max. ;)

Who in the world would be able to remember a name like Parhelia? AKA the Matrox... uh... duh... well, you know, the new fast card :D
Parhelia might be the name for the new chip, but I think the card itself will have a different name. I hope they don't go for something lame such as "Matrox Millennium XP"...

I couldn't care less.
They could call it the "Matrox Jackass" (or even GOAT;) ) as long as it's fast, feature-filled and has good quality output.

it would be ubercool if they called it Ralph, that name is so weird, that everyone will renember it. :p

The Matrox Jackass! Me likey! :D

They could even call it "The Matrox I'll beat you down with a Stick cause I'm so fast bitch!" card. (Matrox IBYDWASCISFB) I'd still get one.
(I obviously don't care about the name. )

Now here's an example of that below:
(that and a MURCer with a lot of time on his hands)

Matrox Jackass (Jubilantly Aggressive Card Knight Aluminizing Super Speed)

Matrox GOAT (Graphically Optimized Adapter Tantilizer)

Matrox Ralph (Radical Adapter Leader in Performance Hyperization)

Matrox Darth (Damn Adapter is Really Turbolisticly Hardcore)

Matrox Rudolph (Really Unrealistically Dominatingly Orgasmic Leader in Performance Hypertasticness)

Or you just might end up with a BLOODY MONSTER (http://www.joytech.com/apoolo%20Geforce%204%20MX4200%20128MB.htm?prd_id=C GTS3TI2) :p

They should just keep the best names around:

Matrox Millenium, for the big guy
Matrox Mistique, for the little brother
Matrox Marvel, for the, well, you get the point.

Why fix it if it aint broke????

they've been doing it like this for quite a while: Matrox Millenium, Matrox Millenium 2, Matrox Millenium G200, Matrox Millenium G400 etc

I have a feeling we may not only see the demise of our beloved Millennium tag...we may just see the name PowerDesk go the way of the Dodo as well...

Boy they really are wanting to start with a clean sheet of paper...

Totally clean. I think the idea is to make a separation from the G-cards and their names.

The Matrox NDA card, featuring the WeWontTalkAboutItTilItsOnTheMarket driver set, with drivers specially optimized to KeepYouGuessingTilTheLastMinute.

LOL

I think its time for the reserection of the Impression. The Matox Impression II. Maybe the original adapter sucked but nobody is alive that remembers and everybody else wouldnt't be stupid enough to try and jam one in the AGP slot

It gets away from TheGeeIcan'tBelieveI'mNoBetterThanThe400MaxAndTheG 550ReallyWasKindaPatheticSoWeBetterNotCallItAG800 naming syndrom. Actually I just like Millenium III.

Gee I better go have another beer, I only had a dozen.

I'd be willing to bet that at least the "Max" tag gets carried over in some way....

well.. then the topmodel name MAX would be cool

Matrox Maximus Max wich is 3x a M, wich you could make Millennium III of ;)

What about the MATROX RALPH with LORNE'S LATE NIGHT PUMP UP PACK for drivers :o

They haven't made a very good use of their Mystique name IMHO... But Matrox users know Mystiques as cheaper variants of the Millennium so maybe it's not a good idea.
Matrox Mirage would be pretty cool, but there is a company named Mirage Multimedia which sells graphics cards so it might not be a good idea either

"My name is Matrox Maximus Meridius. Commander of the Northern Armies, General of the Phoenix Legions, Loyal Servant of the true 3D architect Juan Guardado! Father to a murdered G550, husband to a murdered G550Max and I will have my vengeance in this silicon revision or the next."

If there are three versions, which I think there be, I would name them something like this.

Matrox BlaBla Pro Edition
Matrox BlaBla Game Edition
Matrox BlaBla Standard Edition

Game Edition would be bundeld with some nice games eg GP4.

Pro Edition would be bundeld with some nice 3D and Photoshop like software.

Standard Edition would be cheap and would only have some demos included and no full versions

LOL

But more seriously - if Matrox are going to be targetting the higher-end cards at the professional market, then a moniker like "MAX" which alludes to previous gaming prowess might be counter-productive. But then "Pro" seems rather too obvious.

How about GTi ?
