  • H-sync / audio sync problems

A few months ago, I started a thread about occupations.
I got a few answers, mostly saying a list exists,
    but I never found it.

I am a DeVry grad in electronics, but have a little
difficulty with the firmware/software side of it all.
I currently work as a photo maint tech in semi-conductors
and do very little related to computers due to little
    failure, except at home.

Ever since someone turned me onto this g400 to go with my
A-bit board, I've been trying to build on the awesome
capibilities of the Matrox video qualities. I added the
rainbow card and got stuck on the great captures I
    was getting.

Once I overcame the power source issues w/300W, the quality
reproduction doesn't compare to anything I've seen for the
price. Recently, I purchased the Tyan Trinity 400 because
of it's processor expandibilty, first time with Via chipset.
After installing the Matrox MillG400/Rainbow g-series combo
into the Tyan MB, I began to have problems with my recordings
having what appears to be a H-sync problem, meaning that my
horizontal lines are shifting, in groups or independently.

Tonight I realized, while watching a DVD, that my playback
also showed these horizontal seperations, unsure about the
audio cause huh huh heh is easy to dub.

I looked for an answer and found the most recent Tyan/Matrox
BIOS,found the Tyan recommended Matrox drivers, and installed
my software the same way as I had it on my A-bit MB,
yet my vid-caps either have a H-sync problem or they appear
to have an audio sync problem.

Could this be related to the way the Via chipset handles
priorities, or some simple driver/system interaction that
can easily be resolved with software.

Any suggestion or knowledge is as always appreciated.

P.S. mostly capturing form TV and converting to VCD/SVCD,
and using mostly AVI_IO for recording, but VidCap does the same,
    but better with audio.
