  • stuttering playback withh 450 etv

    Hi.

I am using a 450 etv on an asus TUV4X Motherboard with win 98 SE and an
Intel Celeron 900, 256 MB RAM, AVM Fritz! ISDN-Card, a noname
Network-Cardand a Terretec SixPack 5.1 Soundcard. Hard Diskds are IMB
ICwhatever 60 and 80 GB. DVD ist toshiba sdm 1612 and cd writer plextor
2410. DirectX ist 8.1 and according to windowsupdate the system is equipped with all needed updates.

Since the beginning, i had no luck being able to watch a DVD Movie or a
MPG or AVI-Movie without a stuttering TV-Output. I have no
Computer-Screen connected to this computer, just the TV. The stuttering
mouse is something i dont like but can live with, but watching a movie
an seeing every movement with a very clear stuttering ist very annoying.
the sound continues with no interruption. i tried first a complete
installation on win2K, but it was a real desaster. then i tried my old
Win98SE and it got better, but not good.

A friend of mine braught his Monitor with him and on a pc screen, the
output seems to be just fine, whereas the very same output on the tv
screen ist stuttering. what can this be??

I tried the 6.81 drivers (Card bios is 2.0) but now i have the 6.72
    drivers.

any ideas? i have none left.

    thanks in advance...

    thomas.

You must be using clone mode to display to your TV. You are lucky to get overlay working at all.

Well. I use Clone mode, otherwise i had a black tv-screen.

It seems a bit hard for me to feel lucky about my overlay-mode which stutters. If it didn't work at all i could throw away the card and buy a new one, but so i'm always hoping to get that little rest fixed.

      I tried this last night:
I changed the output from PAL to NTSC.
Im here in Germany, I watch PAL Movies, but my TV also can display NTSC. Once I did that, three things occurred:

      1. The Movies that stuttered don't anymore, they work fine.

      2. Some Movies that stuttered (that in my opinion came from the us, so maybe they are in somewhat ntsc-mode) run faster (but no visual stuttering), but the sound jumps so hard to stay in the timing that it is impossible to enjoy the movie.

      3. my PC-VCR-Application (which i don't like at all. I don't feel like home with it) is displaying the TV-Signal (which of yourse is PAL here) with big pixels (but no stuttering).

Does that all aound familiar, so that someone can say: Aaah, do that and this and then it should be working...?
