  • Cool new theme for Mozilla

If you have Mozilla 0.9.7, download at <a href="http://xulplanet.com/downloads/view.cgi?category=skins&view=lo-ficlassic">XULPlanet</a>.

If you have 0.9.6 or earlier, get it at the <a href="http://www.gashu.org/mozilla/">author's site</a>.

Looks handy. I'm waiting for 0.9.8 though, which is due out next week. Among other things, the "Classic" theme is supposed to be done using native window kit calls (gtk on Unix, other stuff on Windows/Mac).
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

My problem with Mozilla? On my machine, no matter WHAT I do, I can't get it to use the Java plugin. Period. End of story. Just won't happen.

Funny how when I install Netscape 6, it just works.

WTF have they done to Mozilla? It used to work...

Looking forward to 0.9.8 too. (This theme will be updated for it.)

RE: "native widgets," just to clarify:

People seem to think that Mozilla is getting native widgets. It is not. What it is getting is that on platforms where an existing theme engine exists all XUL widgets in the classic skin will query the platform-native theme engine for their correct look.

This means that the classic skin will attempt to follow the current theme as much as possible (much more than it used to before the checkins).

Note that Windows other than WinXP does not have a theme engine, hence Mozilla not doing any "native widget" stuff there. -<a href="http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=2127">bzbarsky</a>
Also note that you must be running WinXP in theme mode. (not classic)
