  • How to make VCD using Nero 5564 from .avi?

    Hi All!

I'm trying to make a VCD of a movie using Nero. .mpg works ok, but a .avi causes Nero to crash with an invalid page fault in Kernel32.dll during the checking process.
Any ideas? I did have a problem with this playing this avi until I installed the latest divx, so could that be it?

    TIA

    Tony.

    Hi Tony!

First of all I wouldn't use NERO to do the conversion. Use TMPGEnc . It's much more reliable and produces better quality.

Check VCDHelp for guides to VCD or SVCD conversion.

Divx conversion to other formats can be a real pain, nomatter what suite of programs you use. In 99% of all cases I have found, crashes are due to errors in the divx file, meaning bad frames. These bad frames can be edited out (you'll miss a few seconds of the movie) or sometimes bypassed with programs like Virtualdub

Unfortunatly manipulating a Divx often leads to sound/picture sync errors on later conversion. This must then be corrected, making the whole process MUCH too timeconsuming.

Hope this helps. If not write me an e-mail and I'll try to be more precise.

    Regards,

    Jake
