  • Matrox marvel 200 w/ XP NIGHTMARE

    After trying every combo of listed "driver / vid tools", considering 2.04 (Latest Vid-tools) won't even install on a completely newly updated version of XP (Windows Installer could not complete installation) sand the leaked Beta just froze my computer when trying to launch the installed software.

    The only version that seems to give any result is v2.02 with the 5.34 driver.

    It will load, and i can change channels on the PC-VCR remote, I can also select capture settings, but the second I click on general settings, or the record button, freeze-o-rama..... not responding, done, toast.

    I have installed every update available for XP, updated the bios on my matrox card, as well as my mother board, checked for conflicting IRQ's, each time, trying to install, uninstall and re-install every combination of driver / vid tools with the Identical same result.

    I then Re-formatted, did a fresh install of XP - repeated all steps relentlessly, with the identical outcom, so.... I converted my file system to NTFS re-formatted once again, repeated the whole process..... and 5 days later, of hours a day, I write to you, the group, with last dich hopes of the answer..... I just want to capture MJpeg Video with my video card, and play it back to tape through the line outs on the card.... that's what i bought it for, it really should be simple shouldn't it???

    Help !..........Sys info ---------->

    Sorry, but you have to wait for XP video tools to be released.

      Oh and I forgot to add, that it looks like there are none planned for the G200 marvel.

        Thanks for your quick reply Rags.... the g200 marvel won't work with any of the 2000 drivers ?????

        So I'm totally wasting my time with all of these attempts?? and I should go back to millenium if i want to capture and play anything in and out of this card??

        There seems to be no mention of XP specificly in the driver section, they mention it occasionally for the macrovision patch, and a few other minor updates.............

        Really, I thought that being a 2000 driver based OS that these new releases would work on XP.

        I've wasted enough screen space on all this, however, If this is a dead issue, and I need to go ahead and go back to 98/ME then shame on Matrox for not offering at least 7 years of updates, support, and compatibillity with the industry standard of OS's

        Thanks
