  • Dual screen many questions

    Hi everyone.

I plan to seriously try that dual-screen thingy very soon with high quality monitors.
    I have a 19" G400 Sony monitor (excellent 19" display btw) and will soon buy a 22" Mitsubishi 2060 I guess.

My system has a G400 32 Mb SH...
So what are my options ?
Buy that second head directly from Matrox, buy a PCI card, or change my G400 ?

The problem is that I am worried about the ability of the G400 to support 2 monitors one being 1280*1024@100 and the other 1600*1200@85/100. Anyway the second Ramdac is only 230 mhz right ? So what do you think I should do to keep my 2D image quality and still have 2 monitors on that PC.

Btw i saw that the G450 pci i was considering has limited capacities on via chipsets (no bus mastering + something else) and I have an Athlon...

What do you think ofthe PCI G200 ? Does it have a good "Matrox" 2D quality, and any known problems ?

    Thanks for your replies ;-)

I would just get the DualHead upgrade from Matrox for your second display. It will be able to run the resolution you want, and give you the same display quality you see now on your primary display. Adding the DH upgrade would be no different than buying a DH G400, and save you some $$...

G400 can display 1280x1024 @80Hz only on second display. If you want higher refresh rate you'll have to go with G450 or G550 which are capable of 120Hz at 1280x1024.
