  • Help Required, audio probelsm I think.

Alright guys. I have tried to fix this myself but become stumped. Generally you guys appear to have more knowledge then most so plese help.

Anyway I have three animations that I have download from the net for my website. One divx, nomal avi and one mpeg file. When ever I try to play them in either media player 7 or quicktime 5 I get either unsupported file type or this "No combination of filters can be found to render the stream, Error ID = 0x80040218, Remedy ID = 0x00000000".

Now the only links between all these files is that they either use the pcm or adpcm audio codec or whatever. I know that these anims seen to play fine on nt4.

I have win2k. I have over the last little while reinstalled my system etc (not for this reason) and tried again but nothing.

Any clues, I am thinking that it is an old codec not necessarily supported by win2k anymore but I can't imagine that being true.

I have tried to find the codec (or something that seems to fit) but been unsuccessful.

    Any help would be grand.

I would say you need download the correct codecs. Unfortunatley I haven't got any links. I know theres one for the G400 and theres several others around as well. I just tried different ones until they worked.
Others on here will have some links.

I like the useless remedy Id. Most codecs can errm normally be found on porno sites. The last codec page I did look at linked me to porno sites and no codecs.
Still there were some nice birds on there.

WM 7 should autodownload most CODEC's, if you let it, except hacked CODEC's like DivX. You can get DivX at http://www.divx-digest.com. If you are running a G400/450/550 you'll want to download the MPEG-4/DivX overlay fix 1.3 as well.

I've found the media player normally stuffs up when hunting for codecs. Still it can be fun finding the right ones.

As for me, I don't trust MS enough to run MP7, still running the old MP6 stuff.

yeah - same thing's happened to me in the past on both my home (xp) and work (2k) machines. WMP6 works (mplayer2.exe), but the proper media player 7 doesn't. I never sussed it out though! (XP's been and gone many time at home, and I just wiped my work machine too)

Well are the CODECs ok or not? ( the ADPCM ones). Also, try Sasami 2k http://www.sasami2k.com, great player ...

I tried using mplayer2.exe and still the same problem.

                      Oh Well.

I guess it is off to the `suggested` sites then to try and find the codec I need. I have tried combinations of codec, pcm etc in search engines and it just comes up with so much crap.

At least by browsing (cough) through those `suggested` sites I may come accross it accidently and view stimulating material whilst at it
