  • UDMA under WinNT

I have started using WinNT Service Pack 5 for video editing puposes, however I am having problems enabling UDMA support for my hard disk. Currently I am getting a transfer rate of about 2Mb/s (In Win98 with UDMA I get 12Mb/s) which therefore leads to many dropped frames. At Microsoft's website it says that UDMA is automatically enabled with Service Pack 4 or greater. Does anybody know how to enable UDMA support under WinNT.
    Thanks.

There is a utility in the NT resource kit called DMAcheck or somesuch. It supposedly enables DMA *if* your chipset supports it and reports if it is enabled or not.

Neither of my NT boxes have IDE controllers that allowed enabling DMA despite both being Intel chipsets, but they are both "old" machines.
