G400 Drivers

Hi,

Installed the latest drivers for my G400 DH the other day and noticed that the second head now supports up to 85hz at 1152x864.

How'd that happen? As I understood it the RAMDAC wouldn't be able to do this - is Matrox overclocking the 2nd RAMDAC?

Well that sounds pretty weird. Never heard about that before. Then again I'm still confused why I can't display DOS SVGA-modes with my (almost) brand new G450 in the TV. Almost all prior models can do that, but I suspect the BIOS has some holes in it. I mean it can't be that much different GPU.

Then again it is possible to OC hardware with software programs; Voodoo3 can be OC'd, RivaTNT's etc.

Or it could be that they have just optimised their drivers.

afaik that's not a BIOS bug, but a limitation of the way the G450 (and newer Matrox cards) do Dualhead Clone. Something with software scaling vs. hardware scaling in the G400...
