  • Overlay Problem G550

I keep getting an error message "create overlay failed" when trying to run a Win DVD ver 3, See attached file

    Pent IV 1.4gb
    Win 2000 Pro
    G550

It wont run on a lower resolution either.

    Any suggestions.

    1st: Welcome aboard ...

2nd: give us as many system details as you can (IRQ list, what drivers, what settings etc)

3rd: you should have posted this in the Matrox Hardware forum, right next door

4th: if you're uncertain what settings to use, try 1024x768x32bpp desktop resolution and see if it works
Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

      5. if you run at higher resolutions than 1024x768x32, try lowering the refresh rate a bit

On a G400 32MB Dualhead I can use overlay with DVD-MAX enabled up to 1440x1080x32 at 81Hz refresh.

        Maggi,

        Thank you for your reply.

Sorry about putting it in the wrong section. Do I need to recreate it in the Hardware forum.

The setting for the PC are attached in dxdiag file.

        IRQ is 16

The odd thing about this is that I dowloaded the Win DVD version 2.3 for Win2000 and it works perfectly for 5 minutes. However Wind DVD will not give me an activation key for the previos version.

I have tried all resolutions and I still get the same message

        Regards
        Simon

Moved to the place it wanted to be

What does it depend on? I managed to use DVD-Max in 1400x1050x32 100Hz, but after a reinstall I can't go beyond 1280x1024... (I have the same card with Win2K SP2 and the latest drivers.)
