Thx RD.

Although I have a very big memory problem the past few days. I now find that G@H runs 1 wu through 3 days, instead of 2 every day.

I need to reboot about every 12 hours. That can't be normal !!

Looking into it

Jord.

Thanks Rattledagger! Nice to see breezer crankin' out the genes
I remember getting stomped by him in SETI when I only had two machines. Seemed like he must have had an endless fleet

I'm not yet in full production on genome as it is not as easy to manager as seti.
When (if) v1.0 comes out with access via http and no socks I'll really start the production line.
All socks access if stopped by the firewall as it is not required on our network. (I copy my units to cd and take them home to upload)

I have only have an Athlon 1400 24*7 and 3 p3 700s (night only) running at the moment.

Ouch!
I hope 1.0 comes out soon then
Genome is a bitch to manage-espaecialy on a network. I have 20 machines here in my office I could use but I get sick of all the jumping through hoops each day to upload and download.
Can't wait till ya' crank em' up. We could use it

Day 5 of no returned work units for me. I finally managed to cull it down to a double instance of Genome@Home running, but how it can run somewhere in my background, after a full reboot is beyond me.

I found that out when I tried to uninstall G@H: it couldn't as it was running, it said. That was right after a reboot!!
So I checked if it might secretly startup from the startup folder? Nope. From Startup under msconfig? Nope.

Okay, now I have finally uninstalled it, moved the reinstall to another harddrive, and am running again. Let's see what it does. If I don't have at least one full crunched sequence within the next hour, it's going off totally and I then need some help

Jord.

Breezer, it looks like your if comes true... They are now planning jumping directly to ver. 2, starting beta-testing in December...

Last!

I'm only running on my Athlon 1200 around 8 hours a day, not sure if I want to run while I sleep or am at work.
"That's right fool! Now I'm a flying talking donkey!"

Crunching again

As dsp has by now found out, I am crunching again at full speed.

I won't leave silde behind me for long, but that's not a problem to me

I have found out what my bugging problem was: A combination of a corrupted uninstall.log from a program that I had uninstalled about a year ago, plus severe fragmentation of my harddrives.

I tried reinstalling WinME over itself, but couldn't, since I couldn't reach my C:-drive in scandisk under Windows, so I ran it under DOS (with the startup-floppy) and it found that file to be damaged. I repaired it, I did surface scandisks on all 3 of my drives, I defragged all my drives and updated my warez DirectX 8.1 to the MS final version. I am back in business

So watch out CHHAS 8 hours a day won't keep Jord away

Jord.
