  • Plextor Vs. TDK...burners that is

Howdy all. Been looking at a new burner. Here is what I am looking at, either a 24x TDK for 120 bucks or a 24x Plextor for looks like around 160 + shipping.

Is it worth the extra cash to go with a Plextor? What will I gain by going Plextor over TDK?

Plextors are worth it. I have a 12/10/32A myself.

The Lite-On 24x is an OEM'ed Plextor. There's been a lot of discussion about it on these forums.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

      are you sure of that?
AFAIK the electronic guts are the same but the drive itself is different!

Doesn't matter whether it's a full OEM job or not, the Liteon 24x is magical. And it costs $100.

The TDK is, unfortunately, crap - at least THIS TDK is crap.

I seem to have seen here that the Plextors are better for certain types of copy protection. Do the Liteon's have the same ability?
