  • G550 won't play DVD's

Hello all, I just setup my first Win2k Machine, a Athlon 1600XP, and I'm having trouble getting DVDs to play...

I have the Matrox DVD decoder, Cinemaplayer, and Power DVD which came with the DVD drive...

the Error msg I get in both is that I have to lower my Res., color depth or refresh... PowerDVD even says that there might be another device using DDraw and to free that up...

I have the All in one IRQ dealio in Win2k, I suspect that might be a cause but am unable to find where I found out how to get a more normal IRQ routing scheme...

Thanks for any and all help..
    Craig

I have it at 1024x768x16bit, I've also tried 24bit also 800x600 16 and 32bit as well as 60-85hz refresh rates.. doesn't seem to matter...

I'd think the G550 could handle DVD playback at 1024.. it's not asking a hell of alot..

I play DVDs on my G550, using the included player software at 1280x1024x32.

I would suggest uninstalling all of the players, and then just reinstalling the one that came with your G550. Sometimes the players interfere with each other when more than one is installed, and cause problems...

            thanks guys its fixed...
in my haste to install everything, and getting used to W2k, I forgot to install the AGP driver for the AMD MoBo I'm using...

Everything works, a dropped frame here and there on some DVDs but other than that, all is well...
thanks again for your time and help..
