  • G400 drivers

    Hi everybody!

Please correct me if I'm wrong...

2 1/2 years after the release of the famous G400,
MATROX is still unable to deliver mature and bug
free drivers. There is no excuse for this, as long
as the new members of the family (G450, G550) are
mainly based on the same graphics engine.

    minuses:

-poor implementation of OpenGL, showing major artifacts
under most of 3D applications (3DS Max, Maya)
-poor stability and lots of problems with games-OpenGL
    and AGP related
-DVD MAX feature working only with X32 pixels horizontal
resolution clips (thanks PRR for the patch - MATROX should
pay him 10U$ for each download of DivXG400)
-poor 3D performance(decent at the board release time)

    pluses:

    -excellent video quality
    -true dual head support
    -fast 2D performance

The last version 5.72(WHQL certified...do you believe this?)
    comes with:

-no color bars at the TV output during DVDMax/Desktop Settings
(which were very useful for adjustments)
-switch of the graphic mode(or lack of signals for a short period
of time) on the main display, when leaving the DVDMax mode
    -artifacts in MAYA3 still present

    just some thoughts...

    bogie

*Nobody* has bug-free drivers. It's impossible to have bug-free drivers. If technology just stood still and no new games, apps or OS's were ever released again, then it may be possible to have bug-free drivers.

But since new OS's, games, apps, hardware come keep comming out, there's bound to be bugs.
    Primary system specs:
