  • XP Pro and Vortex 2 Any ideas?

Ok, so I've got WinXP pro, installed it on a new drive to test it out, and apart from the fisher price interface it seems ok.

My only problem is my soundcard, an mx300. THe installer recognised it, installed the M$ drivers for it, and it seems to think that it's working. IN fact what it does is boot, plays half of the startup sound and then stops sound altogether. mp3's won't even pretend to play and hitting the play button on the windows system sounds test just changes the button to the stop button and sits there.

I tried disabling ACPI, in case it was creating itself a confilct but that hasn't helped.

Any ideas what I@m doing wrong?

Woohoo! That worked a treat (the chandler bing fix).

WEll, there goes another reason not to use XP.
