And the American Civil Liberties Union has demanded removal of a "God Bless America" sign in front of a school in Rockland, California, outside Sacramento.

The ACLU says the words, posted on a marquee in front of an elementary school, send -- quote -- "a hateful, divisive message," end quote. They're a clear violation of the law and Constitution and -- quote -- "must be replaced immediately."

But the school district is refusing and the "Sacramento Bee" reports that 250 people, many dressed in red, white and blue, gathered at the school to support the sign over the weekend.


I'm suprised that these A@@holes don't bitch about "in God we Trust" printed on US Money....sigh

One thing I have to respect about the ACLU is that they fight for everyone's rights. Even in things like the Skokie trial.

If they had any sense, they would look to their own survival rather than making outrageous statements like these, which give them zero credibility and invite mob violence down upon themselves.

The third verse of the national anthem has the phrase, "in God we trust."

Actually the quote is ""In God is our trust.". It is in the fourth part of the poem that Francis Scott Key, an American lawyer and poet, wrote while aboard a British frigate during the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1814. Key had boarded the ship under a flag of truce to arrange for the release of a prisoner held by the British during the War of 1812 and had been temporarily detained during the attack. The sight of the flag still flying on the following morning inspired Key to write the poem.

The Star Spangled Banner we sing today is the first part put to music.

No matter how you cut it the ACLU obviously has the protection OF religious rights in our constitution confused with a protection FROM religion at all costs.

They keep charging windmills while REAL civil rights issues go wanting.

No wonder their credibility among most Americans sucks.

The New School Prayer

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
