I appear to be payingthe price for my thriftiness. My brothers' machine (I'm always fixing it, I'm convinced 80% of my posts are about it 8-) has been having issues with his HP CD burner. While it is sharing a channel with either of his two hard drives it effectively knackers transferring files between them, hanging windows if it is attempted.
This has meant that he hasn't been able to use his 20Gb Hd for about 4 months.
I thought that as a solution I'd install an add-in ATA-100 controller card, and allow all three devices to exist as masters on seperate channels. As he's a poor student I bought a Longshine ATA100 card which I instaled this morning.
The damn card doesn't seem to be telling windows that it has anything connected, and windows neither picks up the HD if I connect it (the card ID's it fine) nore the CD writer.
Any idea what I'm missing here?
