  • Saving to multiple avi files

    Well...

    1. You can calculate the amount of space required, underestimating of course:

    2048 MB / 3 MB/s = 682.7 seconds = 11 minutes, 22 seconds

That's approximately (but a little less than) the max you can put in two GB using full quality MJPEG.

This would give you many separate files, so to play them out out all at once...

    2. You can use cutlist editing, as specified at www.desktopvideoworld.com (a project of our most benevolent moderator). Cutlist playback using MSP is described here: http://www.desktopvideoworld.com/FAQ...trox.htm#Mat28 (Note that you wouldn't necessarily have to save the files off separately this way... you could, in theory, play the entire video back straight from the timeline.)

    3. You can also use AVI_IO, which also does cutlist playback, but if I recall correctly, maybe a little bit cleaner than MSP does it (fewer hiccups). You'll have to perform a search on this forum for it, 'cuz I don't know where it's being held hostage.

    Saving to multiple avi files

    Hello,

I am using a Matrox Marvel G400 to capture and MediaStudio Pro 5.2 to edit my projects.
As I want to create a good quality output I capture at highest quality rates in MJPEG. This give no problems in the clips because they are all fairly short.

But when I have completed my project and want to create a avi file for output to (VHS) tape I immedeately hit the 2Gb limit of the avi files.

What I am looking for is a way to export my MSP project to multiple avi's each containing up to 2Gb of video/audio. I am now creating preview areas manualy guessing the amount of the project what will fit in the avi file and exporting them by hand.

Does anyome know a better way to achive this ?

    Kind regards,

    Herman Reintke

If you have Premiere 5.x, you can try out my ReelAVI plug-in, which allows you to save to multiple files. You can specify file size of course.
