  • OpenGL !!! TurboGL!!! G400 and Half-Life

    Arrghhh...help!
I have just upgrade my graphics device from a ATi-Rage IIc(AGP) + Creative Voodoo2/12 to a Matrox Millennium G400 AGP.

I have hit a snag, in Half-life I used a 3DFXmini OpenGL driver. I understand I can't use this, fair enough. So I switch it to the default driver opengl driver and I get a reply when attempt I to play HL message being 'The Selected OpenGL mode is not supported by your card' . Ok so I searched the system directory and renamed the opengl32.dll i believe it was the wickedgl driver I had. BUT when I selected i attempted to play HL again I got the same message!. HELP!! what am I doing wrong and why doesnt the Matrox drivers install an opengl32.dll ?

And please tell me what is TurboGL?

    thanks! `LeBigMac

The G400 drivers do install OpenGL support...
BUT you must have the correct MS OpenGL32.dll in your Windows\system directory that is installed with Windows. If you had replaced that with a different one at some point, you need to put the MS one back in your system directory.
Also make sure there is no OpenGL32.dll file in any of your Half-Life directories. If there is, delete it.

TurboGL was Matrox's mini-GL for older (5.xx) drivers. It's no longer supported with 6.xx drivers, as the optimisations that where in it are now included in the G400ICD.dll that installs with the Matrox 6.xx drivers.

Thanks for the advice...I used the system file checker and extracted a new copy of opengl32.dll in the system directory.

Played Half-Life and now shows the FPS between 40-50.
