  • AMD memory benchmarks

    Hi there.
Since the default systems that are selectable in Sandra seem to be performing nowhere near what they actually can do when they're tweaked a bit, I'd like to see the results of various AMD chipsets tweaked to the max.
Show what your KT133, AMD760, ALi or SIS735 (anyone really has one of the last two?) can deliver at most. Differences between mobos or BIOSes might be interesting, too.

O.K., so here's my EPoX 8KHA with the VIA KT266 (yes, the old "slow" one), tweaked to 160MHz FSB with turbo mem-settings in the BIOS:

    EDIT: P.S. this is on a TBird 1333 running at 1440MHz (9*160)

EDIT2: Even though the Computer is otherwise stable at this FSB (with NoName RAMs!), I can't use it because my SCSI hostadapter freaks out and begins to trash the HD... The IDE drives (both internal and a HighPoint370 RAID) don't have any problems - maybe time to ditch SCSI?

Nuno: Yes, not too shabby for SDR. But don't trust those Sandra given comparision systems. I've never had a "real-world" system that performed as bad as the "comparable" one listed in Sandra - not with my AMD750, nor with the KT133 or now the KT266. I guess SiSoft run them at the most conservative settings selectable so that noone will complain to the mobo manufacturer and say "hey, look at Sandra, it should run faster". If your system performs better than what is said to be par, everyone tends to be happy.

DuRaNgO: can you bump the AMD760 up to 160 FSB (or anywhere near)? I'd really like to see a realworld AMD760 against KT266 test...
(EDIT: To all you word-pickers: real-world meaning real-world systems, I'm not saying that Sandra would be a realworld test...)

And to all: anyone having a SiS735? Come on and tune the FSB you should be able to crack that GB/s barrier. A KT266A would be really nice, too - if someone already has one...

I'll try lowering the multi and go for 160, don't know how good the ram is though

Be careful if you're having SCSI - many of those hostadapters don't like high PCI speeds. I had to reinstall Win2k after my 160 FSB try cause unfortunately my only SCSI HD (the trashed one) was the Win2k boot one....

Anyone knows a SCSI hostadapter that doesn't freak out at high PCI speeds?

well, I sqeaked out 157 anything higher wouldn't get to the desktop: I also needed to lower some of the mem timings slightly

And you especially forgot to tell us which mainboard / chipset and what CPU you have - which would be quite interesting since up to now you hold the "high-score"...

O.K., so the 170MHz FSB explains something, together with the 1,6+GHz CPU.

Still waiting for any SiS owners to contribute (or ALi for that matter). If the SiS does FSBs near 160 it should be able to beat those scores.

Go to http://www.icronticforums.com if you want to see some high memory scores Some of the owners of KG7's are running over 180 FSB.
