  • Booting Down Problems.

Everytime I shut down my windows2000 machine.
It sits there and hangs on the "now safe to shut off...."
screen. And I have to hit the main power on the back of the power supply.

    I have a kt133chipset MSI K7T Pro2.

G450etv with the only driver that it came with (cd)
    Win2000 SP2.

    HELP ?!?!?!

    THis is getting very annoying.

What the hell are we doing in the middle of the desert?

Do you have the latest bios (2,9) ??
    Is ACPI enabled?

Have installed Via4in1 4.32 (Exept Ide drivers) ?

Can you please post your whole system configuration....

It also happens by me, on a BX mobo. Happent when I had it in ACPI mode and also happens now as a Standard PC.

Only connection I can find now is that we both have an MSI mobo.

Its probably a driver somewhere not releasing properly. There is a good how to on the MS support page on how to find and fix the problem. Cant be bothered looking myself, but I found it easily enough last time I needed it.

You go though your devices (Sound card, NIC, etc) one at a time until the computer shuts down. Then you either install newer/older drivers till its fixed, or get another brand of that device.
