  • Greetings

    Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum, but have been a Matrox fan for quite a few years. I have a G400 Max in my desktop system and a G200 in my entertainment system computer.

    I'm getting a Rainbow Runner G to go along with my G400 running under Windows ME, and am wondering if anyone has any tips to prevent any conflicts or problems while installing. My first plans for this card are to convert all my home videos to Video CD for distribution and archiving. From there, the sky's the limits, I guess.

    To start with;

    1. capture to a separate physical drive and not the boot drive or a partition thereof.

    2. don't overclock.

    3. visit Matrox's FAQ site and read their video editing system optimizatons FAQ for your OS;

    If none show up go to the dropmenu and select "show all topics"

    4. avoid the SBLive audio cards as they can cause quality and other problems. The Turtle Beach Santa Cruz or Video Logic Sonic Fury (same card, just US & Euro models) work great. This is particularly true if you use a VIA chipped board with the 686b south bridge chip.

      Thanks, Doc. Do you know if there's any problems sharing the IRQ with the G400? I'm planning on putting it in PCI slot 1, and this shares the AGP IRQ.

        The RR-G does not use an IRQ. It only uses the PCI bus for power. Data is trasfered over internal cables to the Gx00 display card. So it really doesn't matter what slot.

          Thanks again. Guess that'll work then.
