  • Help!!! Can't Program Using Pins

Help! I've been reading up on how to program and overclock using pins, but have been unsuccessful, the message I get is " unable to open bios input file", I've tried almost everything i.e. different progbios files, I'm running out of ideas and would apprecitate it if anybody would be able to help me. I'm using a retail G400 max, one of the very early versions (2x agp only). Below is my pins dump using mxinfo if it helps (when I tried to program I actually used the pins dump from progbios). Thanks in advance.

Have you used the correct syntax?
Download the lastest BIOS pack from Matrox (2.08) and try this syntax:

    PROGBIOS -i auto -s YOURPINSFILENAME.TXT -k

    -k parameter force bios programming

-DO IT IN PURE DOS MODE (If you have Win9x OS use F8 at startup; do not load EMM386 or HYMEM).
-Diable all VIDEO BIOS CACHING options in your motherboard bios.

    Hope this will work!

Mmmmm i think you have modified wrong values in your PINS.TXT file.
Look loc 71 and 81. It should be
      0x20049911 and not 0x20049511

For overclocking the card you had to change only loc 65,66 ; 75,76
150 is the default graphic chip clock (2d and 3d modes).

Here it s a correct PINS dump for your model (105): http://www1.mahoroba.ne.jp/~youichi/pin/G4MA105.TXT

Also the correct Subsys ID for G400MAX is 217D!
2179 is the SubSys ID for normal G400

Thanks, Venturer for your help, I found the problem was that I forgot to include the bin files associated with the bios 2.08. Now I'm running at 160/220 . But I'm getting weird results in 3dmark2000, I'm getting a score of 100, and in 3dmark2001 it says that it couldn't give me a score since it was not able to run enough tests. If anybody is having the same problems with 3dmark let me know, I'm running w2k with 5.52 drivers, and directx8.0a, amd athlon 700 mhz, k7m mainboard.
