You would probably do better to buy a G400,32MB,Dual-Head, and over clock it. I have a MAX, but it doesn't overclock at all (memory won't handle it). The regular G400's were made for a long time after they stopped manufacturing MAXs (or so I've heard), so quality and technology got better.

You can go out, buy a G400, slap a fan on it, and it will run faster than my MAX, or I'll buy you a beer.

Hmm i dont think its memory that doesnt alow to overclock thats the core because MAX has 5 ns memory which easily should reach 230Mhz

Yeah, you'd think that, wouldn't you? But I'm right. The 6ns memory that's out now will usually do better than 5ns.

The memory on my card is 5ns, and just barely. It doesn't tolerate heat well (I'll get those black-blotch artifacts if the case gets up around 40), and if I clock the memory up to 203MHz, I'll get 2D artifacts. I've used the Matrox tools, Power-whatever, and others you haven't even seen.

I used to be able to run my Max reliably at 8% o/c using the MTSU. I haven't bothered trying it in ages.

My G400 MAX also is disappointing when it comes to overclocking. At 160/213 or thereabout, I see artifacts in the Adventure sequence of 3DMark2000. It seems that 5 ns ram doesn't have much headroom.

On Ebay, you will have to bid around $90-120 to get a G400MAX, with the box, cable, and everything.
