  • mpg encoding question

Hi, I created an MPG in Ulead MSP 6 and sent it to some friends, except they couldn't view it. Media Player attempted to find a codec but said it couldn't. I asked around on IRC and apperently it's because of keyframes?

Can anyone help me out here? What does an MPG file require to be readable on other systems? What codecs should the other user have installed?

    Thanks !

coolfish: Did you encode the file as a mpeg-2 file? If so, that fully explains the codec problem as Media Player doesn't come with a MPEG-2 codec. The other possibility is that for some reason there is something out-of-spec about your mpeg. (I guess if all frames are i-frames that could do it, which may be what the IRC people are guessing)

hmm, i didn't make it "all frames are i-frames"..

I guess they might need a DVD player like Xing to play them, then, correct?
