  • Random problems with DVD software

So, just recently i reinstalled my OS (98SE) and until now i haven't had an opportunity to watch DVD on it. The opportunity arrived last night and i installed the Divicore DVD player coming with my Matrox CD. It's incarnation 1.5.00.1113 with resource file 1.5.22.1105 and Cinemaster driver 1.0.29.5356.

Now something never before seen (at least on my PC) happened. After playing 5 to 45 minutes the player stops and restarts at the beginning with the legal advice. You get the picture?

This happens with all DVDs i own. The system is almost nude with latest drivers for all devices and only standard software installed.

So, any ideas what might cause this random stops? Any hints?

    Regards

I've never heard of that one before. Have you had any other problems with the drive? Perhaps you could try a massive copy off DVD and see if it works?
You may get more help fom others if you post your specs.
      FT.

Hmh, well. The DVD drive is a LG DRD-8120B hanging as slave on the secondary IDE. It shares the bus with a LiteOn LTR12101B CD-RW Writer. This hasn't caused any problems in the past.

My OS is Win98SE with some patches (too much to list right now, but ask for specifics if you need to). The G400 uses the 6.51 driver version. The VIA4in1 is V4.32Final. THe Realtek uses the only on their website available driver and the SB 128PCI uses a driver from 2000, but i can't get the Version number from it.

Edit: Regarding massive copy: I have copied an audio CD DOA on the fly from the DVD to the writer. The DVD grabbed with a respectable 12x rate. I also copied a CD-ROM from DVD to Writer without problems and copied a game CD from DVD to HD. Everything seems fine.
